Thoughts on LBJ…

Imagine this scenario:

LeBron loses to the Celtics and decides it’s time to move on and try something else, essentially taking Garnett’s advice. <~~ http://tinyurl.com/3u2rkby

From this point on, what if he had just shut the hell up and kept to a “strictly business” way of doing things?

He confers with his inner circle and All-Star friends in Wade & Bosh and decides he wants to go to Miami. He signs, takes less money and releases a statement apologizing to Cleveland that he couldn’t bring them a championship. He explains his choice as a result of wanting to be in the best position to win and even taking less-than-max money to do so.

No massive celebration. No predictions. His quotes all synonymous with, “it’s time to get to work.” The only reports that would create a buzz with the public are probably about how he quit on Cleveland, he couldn’t bring them a championship and now he needs help on Wade’s team. Once again, a problem that could have been easily silenced with silence of your own. Ignorance is bliss.

Wouldn’t we all be a lot more apprehensive and even excited to see what sort of possible juggernaut was about to come out of South Beach? (also, without our “taking my talents to South Beach” jokes.) Wouldn’t there be a lot less hate and whole lot more awe? Wouldn’t we be gearing up for version 2.0 of what Boston just had done the past couple years? New and improved, mind you.

I don’t think it was that hard to stay the course toward MJ’s legacy on a public-approved level.

The real question: Would LeBron still have shit himself in the Finals?
